Cressey House resident Marilyn Love speaks out against state budget cuts. ![]()
At Cathedral Shelter, we are constantly reminded of the generosity of donors. Whether it is through the Food Pantry, Christmas Baskets, Mother’s Day gifts, or volunteering, we continue to work closely together to change the lives of struggling men, women, and families.
Your generous support is supplemented by others, including the government, which enables us to provide services so essential to our mission. We are proud that we represent a public/private partnership, where government support provides about 50% of our total funding.
It is because of this partnership, our programs are at risk. Proposed cuts in the Governor’s recent budget have led to drastic cuts in social services, including funding for addiction treatment and supportive housing. At Cathedral Shelter, these cuts have already translated into 15%, or $44,896, of the agency’s halfway house budget being slashed.
I urge you to contact your state legislators and the Governor’s Office about restoring these cuts, and I hope you also find ways to help us continue to serve those in such need through a re-commitment to the work and ministry of Cathedral Shelter.
